Being at the top of the game comes with responsibility! The men are at the height of the game because of two players, Federer and Nadal. Those two players have embraced their status and have become the greatest ambassadors of the game we have ever seen. The women's game on the other hand has seen better days. The WTA has struggled lately with sponsors and just to fill up the stands. Is it the quality of play or could it be as simple that we are sick of some of these athletes acting like divas?!
As a coach, I could not be any more upset with the comments made by Serena William's at her press conference down under. She has played one match at Brisbane and is already putting down tennis and her feelings for it. Most importantly the kids across the world who idolize these players for what they do on the court. They don't need to hear such comments. If you don't like it, DON'T PLAY! We rather watch someone half the talent with double the heart. I used to be a huge Serena fan but as time has passed and the shenanigans that she has pulled on and now off the court, I couldn't think of another player for my own players to NOT idolize.
