Possible 2012 Story Lines!

What will the 2012 Season bring?

Last season brought out some amazing story lines in the ATP & WTA tours. From the dominant form by Djoko to the retirement of Justine Henin, last year was not short of surprises. What will 2012 bring? Let's propose a couple of story lines.

Djoko maintaining his dominance over the Slams and Rafa Nadal.

Last season Nole recorded 3 out of the 4 GS and took over the #1 position held by Rafa and Fed for over 7 years. He dented the reputation that Rafa, the king of clay, has carefully built and maintained for an eternity now. By winning Madrid and Rome Djoko had the confidence to carry with him the rest of the year in winning 2 of the remaining 3 GS.

Caroline Wozniacki wins her GS

After all the talk about Caroline not winning that illustrious 1st GS, imagine her pulling one off this year. Hopefully for her it is sooner than later, as the longer it takes the more pressure it will put on her. By winning one GS, the monkey will be taken off her back allowing her to possibly win more. She has the game to do it, in contrary to what people believe; there's a reason why she is #1. Caroline's legacy will forever change if she is able to pull one GS off, maybe this will be the year.

The Fed Train takes him back to #1

The one player that was able to ding up Djoko this past year was Federer. After taking him out at the French Open he almost did the same at the US Open having two match points against him. Djoko ended coming back and winning that match after an amazing return of serve winner at 40-15 but was never the same after that tournament. Federer ended the year winning the last two tournaments, one of them being the Barclay's Year Ending Championships. With this momentum, he might get back to the top by the end of the year.

Serena Retires

After the comments from Serena yesterday, we might have to wonder if she will be up to her high level of play. It would not be surprising that her lack of fitness will lead to an injury which will cause her to leave the game. This will definitely create a huge hole in the women's game as there won't be a legitimate American threat. We can only hope that she gets her act together and can be the Serena we have come to known.
